The ONCE and Ibermática foundations partner up to help those with disabilities find work
The two organisations have signed an agreement to fill new vacancies and provide training.
Virginia Carcedo, General Secretary of the ONCE Foundation and Executive Vice President of Inserta Empleo, and Joseba Inchaurraga, President of Ibermática Fundazioa, have signed an agreement to promote technological research, development and innovation, as well as foster the inclusion of those with disabilities at Ibermática Fundazioa.
Carcedo highlights the importance of working with an organisation committed to bridging the digital divide: ‘This is particularly important in ensuring those with disabilities are not at a disadvantage when applying for jobs’. She adds: ‘This, combined with Ibermática Fundazioa’s commitment to employing disabled individuals, makes the partnership truly exciting’.
Inchaurraga, for his part, explains: ‘This collaboration agreement will undoubtedly help us achieve our goals, which focus on bridging the digital divide. By promoting technology in the region, we aim to support the social inclusion of vulnerable people, providing them with the training they need and ensuring equality of opportunity’.
Ibermática Fundazioia will work with Inserta Empleo, the ONCE Foundation’s training and employment organisation, to fill new vacancies, pre-select candidates best suited to positions, and provide personalised training to enable them to carry out their work.
The agreement also includes internship schemes aimed at disabled individuals, as well as a focus on indirectly promoting their inclusion in the job market through the purchase of goods and services from supported employment centres by Ibermática Fundazioa.
About Ibermática Fundazioa
Ibermática Fundazioa was founded by Ayesa in 2024. Its mission is to help bridge the digital divide, drive social progress through technological R&D and innovation, and contribute to creating a fairer, more inclusive society by ensuring equality of opportunity for the most vulnerable.
The foundation’s work centres around four main areas: innovation, employment, training and social action. It is also committed to promoting the dissemination and transfer of knowledge in Spain through a programme of events.
Research, development and innovation form the foundation of the foundation’s efforts to create a more fair and inclusive world by driving social progress, harnessing talent and providing training.
To promote employment among those with disabilities, particularly within ITC, Ibermática Social undertakes various initiatives. This is a particularly pioneering programme as it involves a sector that requires highly qualified professionals, in addition to offering unrivalled job security and opportunities for professional development. It currently has a supported employment centre in Madrid, and this year is expected to open another in the Basque Country.
In terms of social action, the foundation promotes and organises various events alongside other organisations, and has signed a number of agreements in line with its mission and values.
ONCE Foundation and Inserta Empleo
The ONCE Foundation is a leading Spanish charity whose mission is to promote the full inclusion of those with disabilities in society. To do this, it runs various initiatives and programmes designed to foster employment and provide training, as well as create environments, products and services that are accessible to all.
This saw the foundation create Inserta Empleo, a HR organisation aimed at helping those with disabilities improve their knowledge and skills as well as find employment. With more than 25 years of experience, it has an expert employment guidance and intermediation team based at 48 offices throughout Spain. Its services, which are provided free of charge, include providing disabled individuals with the support and training they need to find a job, as well as offering companies the best candidates to fill their vacancies.
The work of Inserta Empleo falls under the state ESF+ programmes ‘Youth Employment’ (2021ES05SFPR001) and ‘Social Inclusion, Guarantees for Children and Fight Against Poverty’ (2021ES05SFPR003), as well as an ESF+ programme in the Canary Islands (2021ES05SFPR009), run by the ONCE Foundation through Inserta Empleo. These initiatives are co-financed by the EU and aim to increase training and employment for those with disabilities.
