Ayesa strengthens Basque Quantum to position Basque Country as a Global Quantum Hub

The Head of Quantum Computing at its I3B Innovation Institute, Aitor Moreno Fdz. de Leceta, has been appointed as one of the seven BasQ Advocates selected to expand this technology among various stakeholders in the ecosystem.

Ayesa-i3B, as part of its strategic focus on Quantum Technologies, is closely collaborating with the Basque Quantum strategy, an initiative led by the Department of Science, Universities, and Innovation of the Basque Government along with the Provincial Governments of Araba, Bizkaia, and Gipuzkoa. This initiative aims to position Euskadi as one of the leading global quantum hubs through the development of an ecosystem based on research, talent, and innovation.

Aitor Moreno Fdz. de Leceta, Head of Quantum Computing at Ayesa-i3B, has been appointed as one of the seven BasQ Advocates who will help achieve this goal by driving various activities such as participation in cutting-edge quantum projects, the practical application of this technology, the development of specialized talent, and the acceleration of its use across different business sectors, fostering new opportunities, and generating social value.

With its extensive experience in the field of Quantum Technologies and other enabling technologies, Ayesa-i3B plays a crucial role in boosting and strengthening the Basque Quantum ecosystem and community. Thanks to the trust placed by BasQ, Aitor Moreno Fdz. de Leceta assumes the privilege and responsibility of acting as a key representative and facilitator. In this role, he will actively engage with stakeholders from academia, research, and industry, working alongside the other BasQ Advocates to drive strategic initiatives, raise awareness of quantum technology’s utility, provide guidance on quantum research and innovation, and promote interdisciplinary collaboration in this field.

The Basque Quantum strategy aims to position Euskadi as a leading hub for the development of a reference quantum ecosystem in Research, Talent, and Innovation, with sufficient critical mass and international connections, thus becoming an attractive center for the world’s top researchers and the creation and development of business opportunities.
